Recently, students from SOT Technical Tourism, Tour Guide Operations embarked on an enriching academic trip to Nakuru, a city renowned for its diverse cultural tapestry and breathtaking natural beauty. The trip aimed to provide hands-on learning experiences and insights into the operational dynamics of tourism and guiding.
Cultural Immersion
The journey began with a visit to Nakuru’s vibrant markets and traditional craft centers, where students interacted with local artisans and learned about indigenous crafts such as beadwork and wood carving. This cultural immersion allowed them to appreciate the significance of cultural heritage in tourism and the role of guides in fostering cultural exchange.
Natural Wonders
Nakuru’s natural wonders captivated the students as they explored the stunning landscapes of Lake Nakuru National Park. Guided by experienced instructors, they observed diverse wildlife including flamingos, rhinos, and giraffes in their natural habitat. Field exercises enabled students to hone their guiding skills, emphasizing environmental conservation and responsible tourism practices.
